The present writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to permit the petitioner to contest for the post of Secretary, Students Union of the respondent no.1/Dyal Singh College (‘College’). 3. The candidature of the petitioner was rejected on 10th September, 2026. It is contended by the petitioner that the attendance of the petitioner is 74.80916%, which is only marginally below the required attendance requirement of 75%. It is further contended that the petitioner was an active NSS volunteer, and that the aforesaid attendance figure does not account for his participation in NSS activities. 5. Mr. Mohinder Rupal, counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent no.1/College submits that the list of candidates has been finalised. He further submits that voting has to be carried out through Electronic Voting Machines (‘EVMs’) and the list of candidates has already been fed into the EVMs. He submits that since the elections are to be held tomorrow, it will not be possible to make changes in the data of the candidates that have already been fed into the EVMs at this belated stage. 6. In light of the aforesaid submission, this Court is not inclined to grant the request of the petitioner to contest the elections at this belated stage. 7.
