The petitioner is presently undergoing a sentence of life imprisonment pursuant to the judgment dated 31.05.2011 passed by the learned Trial Court in proceedings arising out of FIR No. 231/2009, registered at Police Station Narela, whereby he was convicted for the offence punishable under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860. His appeal before this Court, being CRL.A. 154/2012, was dismissed vide judgment dated 27.09.2019. 2. By way of the present petition under Article 226 of the Constitution, the petitioner seeks a direction to the competent authority to place his case before the Sentence Review Board [“SRB”] for consideration of his premature release. Mr. Siddharth Yadav, learned counsel for the petitioner, submits that the petitioner’s case was last considered by the SRB in 2023 and was rejected vide minutes of meeting dated 21.12.2023. 4. Mr. Yasir Rauf Ansari, learned Additional Standing Counsel appearing for the State, submits that the petitioner’s case shall be placed before the SRB at its next meeting, if possible, or, at the latest, at the meeting to be held thereafter. 5. In view of the aforesaid submission, and as no further orders sought, the present petition, alongwith the pending application, is accordingly disposed of. 6.
