By way of the present petition, the Petitioners are seeking quashing of FIR No. 433/2022, registered at Police Station New Ashok Nagar, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 498A, 406 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘IPC’), and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom on the basis of the settlement arrived at between the parties. 3. Issue Notice. The learned APP accepts notice on behalf of the State. 4. The Petitioners and Respondent No. 2 are present before this Court and have been identified by their respective counsel and the Investigating Officer (‘IO’). 5. On the complaint of Respondent No. 2, the aforesaid FIR came to be registered against the Petitioners and, upon completion of investigation, the chargesheet was filed. During the pendency of the proceedings, the parties amicably resolved their disputes vide Memorandum of Understanding/Settlement Deed dated 18.05.2026. The settlement records that the parties are living peacefully, the stridhan of Respondent No. 2 has been returned to her and no other payment has been taken by her. 6. On a query made by this Court, Respondent No. 2, who has been identified by the IO, has categorically stated that she has entered into a compromise, vide Settlement Agreement dated 18.05.2026, out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. Therefore, she has no objection if the present FIR is quashed. 7. In view of the fact that the parties have amicably resolved their differences out of their own free will and without any coercion, no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them. It would thus be in the interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment to quashing the FIR in question. 8. Accordingly, FIR No. 433/2022 registered at Police Station New Ashok Nagar, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 498A, 406 and 34 of the IPC, along with all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, is hereby quashed. 9.
