1. This hearing has been done through hybrid mode. 2. The present petition has been filed under Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘BNSS’), seeking quashing of FIR No. 168/2025, registered at Police Station Hari Nagar, District West, Delhi, initially for the offence punishable under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘BNS’), with Section 351(2) of BNS subsequently added in the charge-sheet, and all consequential proceedings arising therefrom, including proceedings in SC No. 413/2025, on the basis of an amicable settlement between the parties This is a digitally signed order. 3. Issue notice. The learned APP for the State accepts notice on behalf of the State. 4. The petitioner and respondent no. 2 are appearing through video conferencing (VC) and have been duly identified by their respective learned counsels and Investigating Officer (IO). 5. Briefly stated, respondent No. 2 / prosecutrix came in contact with the petitioner through a matrimonial website in July, 2024, whereafter they started interacting and meeting each other with a view to marriage. It is alleged that during the subsistence of their relationship, the petitioner established physical relations with respondent No. 2 on the assurance of marriage, but subsequently ceased communication and did not proceed with the marriage. On her complaint, the aforesaid FIR was registered under section 69 of BNS. Upon completion of investigation, a charge-sheet was filed without arrest of the petitioner and Section 351(2) of BNS was also invoked. 6. Vide order dated 09.12.2025, the learned Trial Court framed charges against the petitioner under Sections 69 and 351(2) of BNS.
During the pendency of the proceedings, the parties amicably resolved their disputes, and respondent No. 2 has stated by way of affidavit that she does not wish to pursue the FIR and has no objection to its quashing. No written settlement agreement has been executed between the parties

On a query made by this Court, respondent No. 2, who has been duly identified by the Investigating Officer (IO), states that she has amicably resolved her differences with the petitioner of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion, undue influence or threat. She further states that she does not wish to pursue the aforesaid FIR and has no objection if the same is This is a digitally signed order. quashed. An affidavit dated 29.04.2026 to the said effect has also been placed on record. 8. In view of the above, since the parties have amicably resolved their differences of their own free will and respondent No. 2 does not wish to pursue the proceedings, no useful purpose would be served by their continuation. Rather, continuation of the proceedings may only give rise to further acrimony between the parties. In these circumstances, this Court is of the view that the interest of justice would be served by bringing the proceedings to an end. Accordingly, the aforesaid FIR and all proceedings emanating therefrom are liable to be quashed. 9. Therefore, FIR No. 168/2025, registered at Police Station Hari Nagar, District West, Delhi, initially for the offence punishable under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘BNS’), with Section 351(2) of BNS subsequently added in the charge-sheet, and all consequential proceedings arising therefrom, including proceedings in SC No. 413/2025, are hereby quashed. 10. Accordingly, the present petition is disposed of. The pending application also stands disposed of. 11.
