ORAL ORDER
The petitioner is before this Court calling in question the registration of a crime in Crime No.367/2025 registered for the offences punishable under Sections 281 and 325 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. 2. counsel appearing for respondent No.2 and have perused the material on record. 3. During the pendency of the proceedings, the parties to the lis have settled the dispute among themselves and have filed a compounding application along with the joint affidavit. The joint affidavit of the petitioner and respondent No.2 reads as follows:
"1. That the first deponent is the Petitioner/Accused and the second deponent is Respondent No. 2/Complainant in the above Criminal Petition, and we are well acquainted with the facts of the case. 2. That on 23.12.2025 at about 7:00 PM, near KMF, Sonnenahalli village, Hessaraghatta Hobli, Yelahanka Taluk, Bengaluru, the first deponent, while riding his motorcycle at a moderate speed, was involved in an unfortunate and unavoidable accident when a cow belonging to the second deponent suddenly darted onto the public road. Despite applying brakes immediately, the collision could not be avoided. The cow later succumbed to its injuries on 26.12.2025. 3. That acting on the complaint of the second deponent, Rajanukunte Police registered FIR in Crime No. 367/2025 for offences punishable under Sections 281 and 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The case is presently pending before the 2nd Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bengaluru Rural District, Bengaluru. 4. That subsequently, elders, respected villagers and well-wishers of the locality intervened and mediated

between us with a view to bring about an amicable settlement. 5. That pursuant to the said mediation, we have amicably settled all disputes arising out of the above incident. The first deponent has paid a sum of Rs. 25,000/- (Rupees Twenty-Five Thousand only) to the second deponent as full and final settlement towards compensation for the loss of the cow and all other claims, damages or grievances, if any. 6. That the second deponent confirms that he has received the aforesaid amount of Rs.
25,000/- in full and final settlement and has no further claims, monetary or otherwise, against the first deponent in respect of the incident dated 23.12.2025 or the death of the cow. 7. That the second deponent further states that the complaint was lodged in the heat of the moment and misunderstanding. Now, since the matter has been amicably settled with the intervention of elders and villagers, the second deponent has no objection whatsoever to the quashing of FIR in Crime No. 367/2025 and all consequent proceedings arising therefrom. 8. That we jointly submit that no useful purpose will be served by continuing the criminal proceedings and the same will only cause hardship to both parties. Continuation of the proceedings would amount to abuse of the process of law. 9. That the statements made herein are true and correct to the best of our knowledge, information and belief, and no part of this affidavit is false and nothing material has been concealed therefrom. What is stated above is true and correct.”
4. In the light of application for compounding being filed along with the joint affidavit and offences not being

against the State, I deem it appropriate to accept the compounding application and terminate the proceedings against the petitioner in the subject petition. 5. For the aforesaid reasons, the following:
ORDER i. Criminal Petition is disposed. ii. Proceedings/investigation in Crime No.367/2025 pending before the II Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru, stand quashed, qua the petitioner.
