( 2026:JHHC:17962 ) IN THE HIGH COURT OF JHARKHAND AT RANCHI B.A. No. 3786 of 2026 ------ Satyam Kumar Mehta @ Satyam Kumar, aged about 21 years, Son of Basant Prasad Mehta, Resident of Village –Ratanpur, Post –Ratanpur, P.S. –Ichak, District –Hazaribagh, State – Jharkhand. … Petitioner Versus The State of Jharkhand … Opposite Party ------ CORAM: HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE ANIL KUMAR CHOUDHARY ------ For the Petitioner : Mr. Ashok Kr. Singh, Advocate For the State : Mr. Naveen Kr. Ganjhu, Addl. P.P. ------ Order No.03 Dated- 19.06.2026 Heard the parties. The petitioner has moved this Court for grant of bail in connection with Ichak P.S. Case No.72 of 2025 registered for the offences punishable under sections 17/21(b)/22(b)/25/27/29 of the NDPS Act. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the allegation against the petitioner is that the petitioner was involved in purchase and sale of brown sugar habitually and he is also involved in similar case vide Ichak P.S. Case No. 07 of 2026 in which his prayer for bail has already been rejected by the coordinate Bench of this Court. It is further submitted that the allegations against the petitioner are all false. It is then submitted that the co-accused person has been granted bail. It is next submitted that the brown sugar which has been seized from the co- accused persons is of 35 grams. Hence, it is submitted that the petitioner be admitted to bail. The learned Addl. P.P. on the other hand vehemently opposes the prayer for bail and submits that keeping in view the fact that the petitioner is a habitual offender and he is already in custody in connection with Ichak P.S. Case No. 07 of 2026, there is every chance of the petitioner indulging in similar offences, if released on bail and the co-accused persons who have been granted bail were not having any criminal antecedent. Hence, it is submitted that the petitioner ought not to be admitted to bail. Considering the serious nature of allegation against the petitioner and his conduct of being habitually involved in selling brown sugar, this Court is not inclined to admit the petitioner on bail. Accordingly, the prayer for regular bail of the above-named petitioner is rejected. (Anil Kumar Choudhary, J.) 19.06.2026 Sonu/
