For Petitioner(s): Ms.K.Madhumitha For Respondent(s): Mr.N.Muthuvel, GA https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.No.11445 of 2026 __________ Page2 of 5 ORDER This is a petition filed by the petitioner directing the respondent to consider his representation dated 22.1.2026 to receive the principal and interest towards jewel loan No.688 obtained by the petitioner and return back the jewels to the petitioner. 2. Head the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate accepting notice for the respondent. 3. The case of the petitioner is as follows: (i) When the petitioner was working as a Secretary of J.J.627 Petharampuram Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Society, Petharamapuram, an inquiry was ordered by the District Registrar of Cooperative Societies. Pursuant to the inquiry report, a departmental inquiry and surcharge proceedings were initiated against the petitioner and his properties were also attached. Challenging the same, the petitioner filed a writ petition before this Court and the same is still pending. (ii) The petitioner pledged 29 items of jewels belonging to his wife https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis W.P.No.11445 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 5 and his sister in law and obtained a jewel loan to the tune of Rs.3,85,000/- on 24.3.2025 towards educational expenses of his children and family expenses. When the petitioner wanted to redeem the jewels by approaching the respondent on 15.12.2025, he is not ready to take back the principal along with interest nor has returned the jewels after closing the loan account. Hence, the petitioner made two representations dated 15.12.2025 and 22.1.2026 to the respondent to return the jewels after receiving the principal amount together with interest. As nothing was forthcoming, the petitioner is before this Court. 4.
