This writ petition has been instituted by the petitioner alleging that she has been subjected to harassment and cruelty by her husband and her in- laws, as a consequence of which she was compelled to leave her matrimonial home, leaving behind her two minor children, namely, a daughter aged about 8 years and a son aged about 5 years. It is stated that at present the petitioner is residing with a friend at Shivpuram, within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kotwali Gangnahar, Roorkee, District Haridwar. 3. The petitioner is present in person before this Court. Upon interaction, she submits that she has a reasonable apprehension of danger to her life and personal safety at the hands of her husband and in-laws, who, according to her, are bent upon eliminating her. She further submits that she intends to initiate proceedings under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005; however, due to fear and intimidation, she is unable to approach the competent court, and has therefore invoked the writ jurisdiction of this Court seeking protection. 4. In view of the aforesaid, the Station 2026:UHC:584 House Officer, Police Station Kotwali Gangnahar, District Haridwar is directed to objectively assess the threat perception, if any, to the life and liberty of the petitioner and, upon such assessment, to provide appropriate and necessary protection in accordance with law, in case a real and imminent threat is found to exist. 5.
