JUSTICE WASIM SADIQ NARGAL, JUDGE JUDGMENT (ORAL) - 1. The instant contempt petition arises out of the order/judgment dated 10.03.2026 passed in WP(C) No. 592/2026, by virtue of which following order was passed, which is reproduced as under:- “In view of the pleadings, facts and circumstances of the case and submissions made by learned counsel for the parties, the instant petition is disposed of at this motion stage, with a direction to respondent No. 2- District Magistrate, Jammu to consider the matter, in case, application has been moved by the petitioner for grant of Arms license in Serial No. 09 Regular List CCP(S) No. 190/2026 in WP(C) No. 592/2026 his favour, expeditiously, preferably within a period of three months.“ 2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that an application for grant of Arms License has been moved by the petitioner way back on 17.02.2023, but till date, the respondents have not accorded due consideration to the same in terms of aforesaid order/judgment passed by the learned writ Court and feeling aggrieved, the instant petition has been preferred. 3. Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and perused the record. 4. Issue notice, which is waived by Ms. Priyanka Bhat, Assisting Counsel appearing vice Mrs. Monika Kohli, Sr. AAG. 5. On the asking of this Court, learned counsel, who waived notice on behalf of the respondents has apprised this Court that the order/judgment passed by the learned writ court shall be complied with within a period of four weeks from today. 6. In view of the aforesaid assurance, this Court is of the considered opinion that no fruitful purpose would be served by keeping the present contempt petition pending. Accordingly, the contempt petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to accord due consideration to the application preferred by the petitioner within the extended period of four weeks, if the same has not already been complied with. The order of consideration be forwarded to the petitioner through Registered Post. The contempt petition stands disposed of in the above terms. CCP(S) No. 190/2026 in WP(C) No. 592/2026 7. It is made clear that, in case the order is not complied with within the aforesaid period, the petitioner will be at liberty to revive the present contempt petition and in that eventuality, this Court will be constrained to take coercive measures against the respondents. 8. Accordingly, the proceedings in the instant contempt petition are closed.
