Learned counsel for the petitioners submits 3 acres 5 guntas of land in Survey No.256 of Machagondanahalli Village, Alduru Hobli, Gullanpet Post, Chickmagaluru Taluk and District, was granted in favour of Sri B.P.Veeranna in the year 1992, Saguvali chit was also issued in favour of Sri B.P.Veeranna on 21.09.1994. However, proceedings were - 3 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:22981 WP No. 18229 of 2025 initiated for cancellation of the grant on the ground that lands have been granted to all the family members, contrary to the provisions of law and the rules. An order of cancellation was passed in the year 2002 and the petitioners who were the legal representatives of Late Sri B.P.Veeranna questioned the same before the Deputy Commissioner and thereafter before the Karnataka Appellate Tribunal. The Tribunal disposed of the Revision Petition No.84/2004 on 15.09.2014 remanding the matter back to the Assistant Commissioner for reconsideration. The Assistant Commissioner having reconsidered the question of cancellation, passed an order on 01.06.2020 in proceeding No.112/1999-2000 upholding the grant made in favour of Sri B.P.Veeranna. The prayer in the writ petition is to issue necessary directions to the respondent No.4 – Tahsildar, Chickmagaluru Taluk, to consider the representation at Annexure-L dated 23.08.2021 given by the petitioners. The petitioners are seeking to restore the name of Sri B.P.Veeranna in the revenue records as it was prior to the order of cancellation. - 4 - HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:22981 WP No. 18229 of 2025 3. Having regard to the facts narrated herein above, the writ petition stands disposed of, with a specific direction to the respondent No.4 – Tahsildar, Chickmagaluru Taluk, to consider the representations given by the petitioners along with the orders passed by the Assistant Commissioner in proceedings bearing No.112/99-2000 dated 01.06.2020 and proceed to re-enter the name of Sri B.P.Veeranna in the revenue records, as it was prior to the order of cancellation. The entire exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible and at any rate within a period of two months from the date of receipt of copy of this order. 4.
