In sequel to the direction passed by this Court on 02.04.2026, the parties have come present. 1 Whether reporters of Local Papers may be allowed to see the judgment? 2
2. The learned Deputy Advocate General has filed the status report. The same is taken on record. 3. The statement of respondent No.2 has been recorded separately. Respondent No.2 has stated that she does not want to pursue the FIR lodged by her against the petitioners and the same may be quashed. She has also stated that further proceedings emanating therefrom may also be quashed. 4. Since respondent No.2 is now living with petitioner No.1, who is her husband, and further a daughter has been born out of the wedlock, no fruitful purpose will be served if the proceedings are continued on the basis of FIR No.45/2024 dated 02.04.2024, registered at Police Station Palampur, District Kangra, H.P., under Sections 498-A, 323, and 506 read with Section 34 of the IPC. Respondent No.2 has also submitted that the compromise has been entered into by her, with the petitioners, without any coercion or pressure, and thus, keeping in view the statement made by respondent No.2 as well as the
3 relations between respondent No.2 and the petitioners, interest of justice will be met if FIR No.45/2024 dated 02.04.2024, registered at Police Station Palampur, District Kangra, H.P., under Sections 498-A, 323, and 506 read with Section 34 of the IPC and consequential proceedings are quashed and the proceedings pending adjudication before the learned ACJM, Palampur, District Kangra, H.P., in Police Challan No. 59 of 2024, are also quashed and the petitioners are acquitted of the said offences. 5. Consequently, the present petition is allowed and disposed of as such.
Pending application(s), if any, shall also stand disposed of. 10 th April, 2026
