The present petition has been filed by the petitioner under Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as ‘BNSS’) seeking quashing of FIR No. 200/2026, registered at Police Station Laxmi Nagar, District East, Delhi, for offences punishable under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as ‘BNS’), and This is a digitally signed order. The learned APP for the State accepts notice on behalf of the State. 4. The petitioner, present in court, and respondent nos. 2-6 appearing through video conferencing (VC) have been duly identified by their respective learned counsels and the concerned Investigating Officer (IO). 5. Briefly stated, on 08.06.2026, owing to certain business dealings, an altercation took place between the Petitioner and Respondent Nos. 2 to 6 at their residence at Priyadarshini Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi. On the complaint of Respondent No. 2, FIR No. 200/2026 dated 18.06.2026 was registered at Police Station Laxmi Nagar, District East, Delhi under Section 79 of the BNS, alleging use of words and gestures intended to insult her modesty and intrude upon her privacy. 6. In respect of the same incident, cross-FIR No. 206/2026 dated 22.06.2026 was registered on the complaint of the Petitioner against Respondent Nos. 2 to 6 under Sections 115(2), 126(2), 303(2), 351 and 3(5) of BNS. Investigation in both FIRs was subsequently transferred to the Crime Branch. 7. During the pendency of the investigation, the parties amicably resolved their disputes vide Settlement Agreement dated 06.08.2026. Respondent No. 2 agreed not to pursue FIR No. 200/2026, while the Petitioner agreed not to pursue FIR No. 206/2026, which forms the subject matter of connected CRL.M.C. 6319/2026. Respondent No. 4 also agreed to withdraw his complaint dated 08.06.2026. The settlement records that no monetary consideration or other claim survives between the parties. On a query made by this Court, respondent No. 2, who has been duly identified by the IO, has stated that she entered into the Settlement Agreement dated 06.08.2026 of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion, undue influence or threat. She has further stated that she has no objection if the aforementioned FIR is quashed. 9. In view of the above, since the parties have amicably resolved their differences of their own free will and without any pressure, coercion, undue influence or threat, no useful purpose would be served by continuing the proceedings. Rather, continuation of the proceedings may only give rise to further acrimony between the parties. In these circumstances, this Court is of the view that the interest of justice would be served by bringing the proceedings to an end. Accordingly, the aforesaid FIR and all proceedings arising therefrom are liable to be quashed. 10. Accordingly, FIR No. 200/2026, registered at Police Station Laxmi Nagar, New Delhi, for the offences punishable under Section 79 of the BNS, along with all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, is hereby quashed. 11. The present petition is accordingly disposed of. Pending application(s), if any, also stand(s) disposed of. 12. A copy of this order be sent to the concerned learned Trial Court for necessary information and compliance. 13. The order be uploaded on the website forthwith.
