22.01.2026 IN THE HIGH COURT AT CALCUTTA Item No.57 CRIMINAL MISCELLANEOUS JURISDICTION Ct.No.35 dc. Rejected C.R.M. (M) 59 of 2026 In Re : An Application for bail under Section 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023/Section 439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 filed in connection with Howrah Police Station Case No. 23 of 2024 dated 21.01.2024 under Sections 489B/489C of the Indian Penal Code. And In Re : Sk. Abid Ali ... Petitioner. Ms. Madhushri Dutta, Mr. Ranjit Biswas ... For the Petitioner. Mrs. Sujata Das, Mrs. Manasi Roy ... For the State. Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for 735 days and as such, he may be released on bail on any stringent condition. Learned advocate appearing for the State, on the other hand, opposes the prayer for bail and submits that the evidence of the whole case is almost complete and the cross- examination of the Investigating Officer is in progress. Having considered the stage of the case, I am not inclined to release the petitioner on bail. As such, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected. The application for bail, being CRM (M) 59 of 2026, is, thus, dismissed. All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. 2 Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
