State of Andhra Pradesh1 observed that the Legal Services Authorities constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act alone are vested with the authority to facilitate settlement of matrimonial or other disputes pending between parties. Even assuming that there exist matrimonial disputes between the petitioner and Respondent No.6, Respondent No.5 ought to have relegated the parties to mediation or Lok Adalat instead of intervening at the police station. 1 2026 SCC OnLine AP 409 3 7. When both parties belong to noble professions, the police ought not to adopt coercive or arm-twisting methods to compel them to enter into negotiations or settlement. 8.
