During his service, he was promoted to the post of Traffic Inspector with effect from 28.02.2011 and his basic pay was revised accordingly. However, at the time of his retirement, the respondent had calculated and paid gratuity based only on the pre-revised basic pay and pre- revised Dearness Allowance, and not on the revised basic pay and revised Dearness Allowance. According to the petitioner, the gratuity payable to him ought to have been calculated based on the revised basic pay along with the revised Dearness Allowance. Since the respondent failed to do so, the petitioner had submitted a representation dated 06.12.2025 to the respondent seeking payment of the differential gratuity along with interest. However, to date, the said representation has not been considered. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed. https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis WP No. 8992 of 2026 __________ Page3 of 4 3.
