HIGH COURT OF JAMMU & KASHMIR AND LADAKH AT JAMMU WP(C) No. 1269/2026 Abida Koser & Anr. …..Appellant(s)/Petitioner(s) Through: None vs UT of J&K & Ors. .…. Respondent(s) Through: Mr. H R Qureshi, Advocate Ms. Nisha Kangotra, Assisting counsel to Mrs. Monika Kohlil, Sr. AAG CORAM: HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE SANJAY PARIHAR, JUDGE ORDER 30.06.2026 1. There is no representation on behalf of the petitioners when the matter is taken up for consideration. 2. Mr. H. R. Qureshi, learned counsel appearing for the interveners, namely, the parents of petitioner No. 1, Ms. Abida Koser, and one Sajid Hussain Kohli, who is alleged to have solemnized Nikah with petitioner No. 1, seeks their impleadment as party respondents in the present petition. It is noticed that, vide order dated 06.05.2026, this Court had directed the respondents to ensure protection of the life and liberty of the petitioners and to provide such protection as and when sought by them. 3. The record further reveals that the petitioners remained unrepresented on the previous date of hearing, i.e., 01.06.2026, and have again chosen not to appear today. Their continued absence, particularly after the filing of the application for impleadment by the parents of petitioner No. 1, indicates Serial No. 59 2 WP(C) No. 1269/2026 that they are no longer inclined to prosecute the present petition and have abandoned the proceedings. 4. In the aforesaid circumstances, this Court is satisfied that the petitioners have failed to prosecute the petition despite adequate opportunity. Consequently, the writ petition is dismissed for want of prosecution. 5. As a necessary corollary, all interim directions, if any, shall stand vacated. (Sanjay Parihar) Judge Jammu 30.06.2026 Sneha
