The brief facts which are culminated in the filing of these writ petitions are set out below: 2.1. It is the case of the petitioners that the petitioners in W.P.Nos.9105, 9118, 9114, 9111 and 9108 of 2026 were working as Junior Assistant, Conductor, Driver, Driver, Junior Assistant respectively, in the respective respondent corporation and finally working as Superintendent, Special Grade Conductor, Special Grade Driver, Senior Driver, Senior Superintendent respectively and retired from service on attaining superannuation. The respondents settled the terminal benefits with a delay of one year. 2.2.Therefore, the respondents are legally bound to pay interest to the petitioner. Therefore, the petitioner made a representation to the respondents to pay the interest at the rate of 18% p.a., for the belated payment of the petitioners’ terminal benefits. Heard the learned Counsel for the respondent and perused the materials available on records. 4. Admittedly, the terminal benefits has been paid belatedly for no fault of the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners are entitled to interest on the same. Therefore, the Writ petitions are allowed as prayed for and a mandamus is issued directing the respondents to disburse the 6% interest for belated payment of terminal benefits within a period of one (1) month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
