3. By way of the present petition, the petitioner is seeking quashing of FIR No. 0183/2026, registered at Police Station Jaitpur, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 115(2)/126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘BNS’) and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, on the basis of the settlement arrived at between the parties. 4. 5. The petitioner and respondent no. 3 are present before this Court and have been duly identified by the Investigating Officer. 6. Briefly stated, the petitioner is the mother-in-law of respondent no. 3. A quarrel took place between them at their residence at Prince Colony, Hari Nagar Part-3, Jaitpur, Delhi, pursuant to which the present FIR came to be registered at the instance of respondent no. 3. The MLC of respondent no. 3 recorded a lacerated injury on the right side of her forehead. 7. During the pendency of the proceedings, with the intervention of elders, family members and respectable members of the society, the parties amicably resolved their disputes and executed a Settlement Agreement/Memorandum of Understanding dated 21.05.2026. In terms thereof, respondent no. 3 has agreed not to pursue the proceedings arising out of the present FIR and to cooperate with the petitioner in quashing thereof. 8. On a query made by this Court, respondent no.
3, who has been duly identified by the Investigating Officer, states that she has entered into the aforesaid settlement out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat and has no objection if the present FIR and the proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed. 9. In view of the above, considering that the parties are closely related and have amicably resolved their disputes out of their own free will and without any coercion, no useful purpose would be served by continuing with the criminal proceedings, which would rather perpetuate acrimony between the parties. It would, therefore, be in the interest of justice to put a quietus to the dispute. This Court finds no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question. 10. Accordingly, FIR No. 0183/2026, registered at Police Station Jaitpur, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 115(2)/126(2) of the BNS This is a digitally signed order.
