The petitioner-UT of Jammu & Kashmir has challenged an order dated 04.06.2026 passed by the court of learned Additional Sessions Judge, Kathua in bail application arising out of the case titled “UT of J&K Vs. Murad Ali & Ors.” pertaining to FIR No. 319/2025 registered for the commission of offences punishable under Sections 8, 21, 22, 27-A, 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, whereby the respondent-Abhay Kumar as an accused was granted interim bail for a period of 20 days i.e., upto 23.06.2026, to attend to his ailing wife. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the respondent has, upon the expiry of the period of interim bail, surrendered to the judicial custody and the period of interim bail has not been extended. 3. In view of the fact that short bail was granted to the respondent, which is subject matter of the present petition and with the afflux of time, the petition has become infructuous. 4.
