Affidavit of service filed by the petitioner is taken on record. Heard learned counsels for the parties.
Learned counsel for the State submits that he has no instruction with regard to the present matter. The petitioner was appointed as Panchayat Secretary in Sekhalipur Gram Panchayat and retired on 31st August, 2020. Despite completing all pension related formalities within due time, pension payment
order was issued by the concerned authority on 21st March, 2021. The gratuity amount and arrear pension were disbursed on 17th April, 2021. The petitioner seeks interest on the gratuity amount and arrear pension paid to him due to delay in disbursal of the same. Upon consideration of the submission made on behalf of the parties and material on record, the Director of Pension, Provident Fund and Group Insurance, Government of West Bengal and the Treasury Officer, Jangipur, being the 2nd and 4th respondents herein, are directed to pay interest to the
2 petitioner at the rate of 8% per annum on the gratuity and arrear pension amount calculated from 1st September, 2020 till the date of actual payment. Such payment shall be made within two months from the date of communication of this order. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit has been invited, allegations contained in the writ petition shall be deemed not to have been admitted. Urgent certified website copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties on compliance of requisite formalities (Suvra Ghosh, J.)
