1. This public interest litigation petition has been filed with a prayer to direct the respondents to frame and notify the rules under Section 179 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS, 2023). 2. Section 179 BNSS, 2023 describes the power of a Police Officer making an investigation to require the attendance of any person before him, who appears to be acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case. It further provides that such persons shall attend the Police Officer concerned whenever he is required. This is a digitally signed order. 3. Sub-Section 2 of Section 179 provides for framing of a rule for payment to be made by the Police Officer of reasonable expenses of every person attending such a request under sub-Section 1 of Section 179. 4. It has been stated at the bar that rules under Section 179(2) have not been framed. 5. Accordingly, we permit the petitioner to make a representation for redressal of his grievances to the respondents, who shall attend the same and take steps for framing the rules under Section 179(2) of the BNSS, 2023. The said representation shall be made by the petitioner within a fortnight from today and if any such representation is made, the same shall be attended to by the appropriate authorities of the respondents, which shall take a decision and take steps for framing of rules under Section 179(2) of BNSS, 2023 with expedition. 6.
