GP FOR SERVICES II The Court made the following: 3 THE HONOURABLE SRI JUSTICE D.RAMESH WRIT PETITION No.2127 of 2025 ORDER: This writ petition is filed declaring the action of the respondents in not considering the case of the 1st petitioner for appointment on compassionate grounds, as illegal and arbitrary. 2. Heard learned counsel for the petitioners and Sri Aravala Rama Rao, learned Standing Counsel for respondent Nos.2 and 3. 3. The father of the 1st petitioner was appointed as a driver in the respondent-Corporation and after the demise of his father, the 1st petitioner has filed an application by obtaining no objection certificate from his mother i.e., the 2nd petitioner. Based on the said application, the Revenue Divisional Officer, Puttaparthy, addressed a letter on 23.06.2022 to the District Public Transport Officer, Sri Sathya Sai District, Puttaparthy, to get information about the socio economic condition of the 1st petitioner. Accordingly, the 2nd respondent has referred the matter on 23.03.2022 to the District Collector for consideration of the case of the 1st petitioner as per the policy, which is invoked. 4 4. Learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that after merging the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation into the State Government, compassionate appointments are to be made by the District Collector. Accordingly, the 2nd respondent has referred the matter on 23.03.2022 to the District Collector. Despite the lapse of three years, the respondents have not considered the matter and not passed any orders. Hence, the present writ petition. 5. In reply to the said contentions, Sri Aravala Rama Rao, learned Standing Counsel for respondent Nos.2 and 3, submitted that now the 4th respondent - District Collector is the competent authority to consider appointments on compassionate grounds. Though he raised certain objections with regard to the eligibility of the 1st petitioner, the fact remains that the Corporation is not the concerned authority and it has already recommended/referred the matter to the District Collector. 6. Considering the said submissions, the Writ Petition is disposed of directing the 4th respondent to consider the letter addressed by the 2nd respondent vide communication dated 23.03.2022 and pass appropriate orders within a period of three 5 (3) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs. As a sequel, miscellaneous petitions pending, if any, shall stand closed. _______________________ JUSTICE D.RAMESH Date: 06.02.2026 Ivd 6 THE HONOURABLE SRI JUSTICE D.RAMESH WRIT PETITION No.2127 of 2025 Dated: 06.02.2026 Ivd
