2026:JHHC:15656 IN THE HIGH COURT OF JHARKHAND AT RANCHI A. B. A. No. 2808 of 2026 --- Shankar Baitha @ Shankar Kumar Rajak, aged about 48 years, S/o Bahadur Ram, resident of village – near Jhopadi, Rotary Club Road, PO and PS – Murshawa, District – Sonbhadra (U.P.) … … Petitioner Versus The State of Jharkhand … … Opposite Party --- CORAM : HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE RONGON MUKHOPADHYAY --- For the Petitioner : Mr. Ashok Kumar, Advocate For the Opposite Party : A.P.P. --- 2/29.05.2026 Heard Mr. Ashok Kumar, learned counsel for the petitioner and learned A.P.P. for the State. The petitioner is apprehending his arrest in connection with Bhawnathpur P.S. Case No. 20 of 2022. It has been alleged that an unidentified dead body was recovered from inside the bridge. Submission has been advanced by learned counsel appearing for the petitioner that petitioner does not have any concern with the murder of the husband of the informant. It has been submitted that informant has merely stated that her husband as well as others including the petitioner had gone for work to Uttar Pradesh and therefore it cannot be inferred that the petitioner was involved in committing the murder of the husband of the informant. Learned A.P.P. for the State opposed the prayer for anticipatory bail of the petitioner. It appears that the dead body was recovered on 07.02.2022 and the husband of the informant had gone missing on 23.01.2022. The condition of dead body as depicted in the first information report reveals that it was in a decomposed state which would prima facie coincide with the time, the deceased had left with the petitioner and others. The same being a strong circumstance, I am not inclined to extend the privilege of anticipatory bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, this application stands rejected. 29.05.2026 (Rongon Mukhopadhyay, J) Sangam/-
