HIGH COURT OF JUDICATURE AT ALLAHABAD PUBLIC INTEREST LITIGATION (PIL) No. - 1884 of 2026 Chief Justice's Court HON'BLE ARUN BHANSALI, CHIEF JUSTICE HON'BLE KSHITIJ SHAILENDRA, J.
1. This petition has been filed by the petitioners seeking a direction to the respondent-authorities to take necessary action for installing the display board to the interchange Bantikhera Toll Plaza and direct them to take necessary action against anarchic elements, who have made protest for establishing the display board. 2. Submissions have been made that National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has set up the toll plaza wherein the same should be titled as Toll Plaza Bantikhera, however, the residents of the village Karaudha Hathi are not permitting the said display of the notice board, though the NHAI sought the police help but the same was not made available. 3. Instructions were sought from the respondents regarding providing police help. 4. Instructions have been produced along with the pictures inter alia indicating that attempt was made for the purpose of display of toll plaza board, however, the same led to huge law and order problem wherein large number of villagers gathered and started pelting stones etc. Further pictures have been produced inter alia indicating that now at the toll plaza, the name has been indicated as 'Toll Plaza Bantikhera-Karaundha Hathi'. 5. Learned counsel Sri Ramesh Pundir submits that he has moved an Versus Counsel for Petitioner(s) : Santosh Kumar Shukla, Rajive Kumar Counsel for Respondent(s) : A.S.G.I., K.V. Singh (S.C.), Pranjal Mehrotra, Ramesh Pundir, Rekha Pundir, Vaibhav Tripathi Sanasveer and 4 others .....Petitioner(s) Union of India and 3 others .....Respondent(s)
application on behalf of villagers of Village Karaundha Hathi seeking impleadment. 6. Having gone through the assertions made in the writ petition as well as the instructions produced along with the pictures, we are firmly of the opinion that the plea sought to be raised by the petitioners, is essentially based on their hurt ego on account of name of toll plaza being shared by the other village. 7. In view of the fact that the police authorities have clearly indicated the status of the law and order situation, we do not find any reason to entertain the present PIL and give direction which may further lead to the deterioration of law and order situation. 8.
In view of the fact that toll plaza contains the name of both the villages, we do not find any reason to pass any direction. 9. Petition stands disposed of.
