BEFORE HONOURABLE MR. JUSTICE SOUMITRA SAIKIA ORDER 28.01
.2026 Heard Mr. M. Ahmed, learned counsel for the petitioners. The petitioners before the Court claim to be persons who are running their businesses from the rooms allotted to them by the Bandia Gaon Panchayat situated at Bandia, Mangaldai in the district of Darrang. They have been running their businesses from the same rooms and paying the necessary rent. The learned counsel for the petitioners submits that on 20.01.2026 by way of the impugned notice they were asked to vacate the room within 10 days, fixing on 30.01.2026 as the date for vacating the premises. Although certain issues have been raised in the petition, the learned counsel for the petitioners on instruction submits that they are agreeable to vacating the said rooms but they need further time for finding alternative accommodation.
Under such circumstances, without addressing the issues on merit, the petition stands closed at this stage without issuance of notice directing the petitioners to vacate the premises within 20 days from 30.01.2026. The writ petition accordingly in terms of the above stands disposed of. Page No.# 4/4 Mr. A.K. Ghosh, learned Standing Counsel appears for the P&RD respondents; Mr. H. Sarma, learned Government Advocate appears for State respondent. A copy of this order will be marked to the Office of the Standing Council, Panchayat and Rural Development. JUDGE Comparing Assistant
