Heard Mr. Jitendra Nath Upadhyay, learned counsel for the petitioner and learned A.P.P. 2. The petitioner is an accused in connection with Adityapur P.S. Case No. 19 of 2026. 3. It has been alleged that the petitioner had damanded extortion money of Rs. ten lakhs from the brother of the informant who had taken a contract in the railways. On refusal, the brother of the informant was attacked with an axe and was also fired upon by the petitioner but he had a providential escape. The miscreants had also damaged the pick-up van and the motorcycle of the informant. 4. Submission has been advanced by the learned counsel for the petitioner the he is in custody since 18.01.2026. It has further been submitted that the victim had received a cut injury which was opined to be simple in nature. 5. Learned A.P.P. has opposed the prayer for bail of the petitioner. 6. It appears that one cartridge was recovered from the place of occurrence and the pistol was also recovered from the possession of the petitioner which indicates the genuinity of the allegation leveled against the petitioner. Moreover, the petitioner seems to have two criminal antecedents. 7. Regard being had to the above, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. The same is hereby rejected at this stage. 8.
