Mr. Rakesh Kumar Joshi, learned Brief Holder for the State. 3. Petitioners have approached this Court for protection. According to them, they were in love and they got married on 22.03.2024 as per Muslim rites and customs against the wish of parents and family members of petitioner no.1, therefore, they are extending threat to the petitioners. Nikahnama dated 22.03.2024 and marriage registration certificate dated 11.04.2025 are on record as Annexure Nos.3 and 4, respectively. 4. Both the petitioners are physically present. Petitioner no.2 stated that he works as Welder at Khatima, District Udham Singh Nagar. He further apprised the Court that he has not received any formal education. Petitioner no.1 stated that she has also not received any formal education. She, however, informed that she is resident of Bisalpur, Pilibhit, District Uttar Pradesh. 5. Learned State Counsel submits that since both the petitioners are major and they have 2026:UHC:70-DB voluntarily entered into matrimonial alliance, therefore, he has no objection if protection is given to them for a reasonable time. 6. In view of law laid down by Hon’ble Apex Court in Lata Singh v. State of U.P. and another, (2006) 5 SCC 475, we dispose of the writ petition with direction to the S.H.O., Police Station Khatima, District Udham Singh Nagar to provide protection to the petitioners for a period of six weeks. Upon expiry of six weeks, he shall assess the threat perception to the petitioners and take such measures, as are deemed necessary for their safety and security. 7.
