By way of the present petition filed under Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘BNSS’), the petitioner seeks quashing of FIR No. 247/2019, registered at Police Station New Usmanpur, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 354/506/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘IPC’), and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, on the basis of settlement arrived at between the parties. 3. Issue notice. Learned APP accepts notice on behalf of the State. This is a digitally signed order. The petitioner and respondent No. 2 are present before this Court and have been duly identified by their respective counsel as well as the Investigating Officer. 5. Briefly stated, the petitioner and respondent No. 2 are cousins and reside in the same vicinity. On 06.04.2019, an altercation took place between them, pursuant to which the present FIR came to be registered. During the pendency of the proceedings, the parties amicably resolved their disputes before the Delhi Mediation Centre, Karkardooma Courts, Shahdara, Delhi, vide Settlement Agreement dated 16.07.2026. 6. On a query made by this Court, respondent No. 2, who has been duly identified by the Investigating Officer, has categorically stated that she has entered into the Settlement Agreement dated 16.07.2026 out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. She further states that she has no objection if the present FIR and the proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed. 7. In view of the above, considering that the parties have amicably resolved their disputes out of their own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat, no useful purpose would be served in continuing with the criminal proceedings, which would rather result in further acrimony between the parties. This Court is, therefore, of the considered view that it would be in the interest of justice to put a quietus to the dispute between the parties. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question and the proceedings emanating therefrom. 8.
