The petitioner applied for the issue of a fresh passport vide application dated 16.01.2026. He says that he was not aware that a criminal case was pending against him and, therefore, could not disclose it. The police verification report appended to his application for the issue of passport reveals the case. 2. The petitioner says that he collected information about the case which is Crime No.236 of 1988 under Sections 147, 148, 323, 324, 504 IPC, PS- Mundapandey, District Moradabad. The petitioner has explained that he has inspected the records and secured certified copies of the record of which he was not aware. He has also secured certain records under the Right to Information Act, 2006. 3. The petitioner is granted two weeks' time to file a reply to the show cause notice dated 06.02.2026 issued by the Regional Passport Officer, Bareilly. 4. If the petitioner files a reply to the show cause within 15 days from today together with such material in support of his case as he chooses to annex, the Regional Passport Officer, Bareilly shall pass appropriate orders after considering the petitioner's reply and the material annexed in support of his defence and pass a reasoned order deciding the petitioner's application for the grant of passport as also the show cause proceedings. 5. Final order in the matter shall be passed by the Regional Versus Counsel for Petitioner(s) : Mohabbat Bi, Mohd Imdad Siddiqui Counsel for Respondent(s) : A.S.G.I., C.S.C., Chandra Shaikhar Vaish Dulha Ali .....Petitioner(s) Union Of India And 4 Others .....Respondent(s) Passport Officer, Bareilly within a period of one month from the date petitioner submits his reply. 6. This petition is disposed of in terms of the aforesaid order. 7. The Registrar (Compliance) is directed to communicate this order to the Regional Passport Officer, Bareilly through the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bareilly within 24 hours next.
