The present writ petition has been instituted seeking quashing of the order dated 28.08.2026, whereby the petitioner has been placed under suspension. 2. This Court is of the view that an order of suspension does not constitute a punishment or penalty imposed upon an employee. Suspension is ordinarily an interim measure adopted in the course of administrative or disciplinary proceedings, intended, inter alia, to facilitate a fair and unhindered inquiry, and does not determine the guilt or otherwise of the person concerned. 3. Accordingly, the petition is dismissed with liberty to the petitioner to avail such remedies as may be available to him in law against any subsequent order or action taken in the disciplinary proceedings.
