IN THE HIGH COURT OF ANDHRA PRADESH AT AMARAVATI
WRIT PETITION NO: 30 of 2026 Bench Sr.No:- LM-1 [3552] Gadi Dedeepya ...Petitioner Vs. The State of Andhra Pradesh and others ...Respondents ********** Advocate for Petitioner : Mrs. Marella Radha Advocates for Respondents : Mr. Upendra appearing vice Mrs. T. V. Sridevi, Standing Counsel for Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences GP for Medical, Health & Family Welfare
CORAM : THE CHIEF JUSTICE DHIRAJ SINGH THAKUR SRI JUSTICE CHALLA GUNARANJAN DATE : 2nd January 2026 P C :
The petitioner responded to the notification, dated 18.11.2025, for admission to various PG courses and applied for the seat under the competent authority quota. The petitioner however could not make up the merit.
2. The National Medical Commission (NMC), it appears, started a new scheme whereby 22 seats in PG courses were to be filled up under the said financing scheme in government medical colleges. The petitioner is now desirous of applying for the said seats. However the same is being prevented by the official respondents on the plea that the last cut-off date for applying for
the seats, which was fixed as per the notification, dated 18.11.2025, is over. Needless to say that the last date prescribed for applying was 26.11.2025.
3.
Learned counsel for the petitioner states that the additional seats under the self financing category have been allotted for being filled up only as late as on 23.12.2025. There was no question at all of the petitioner applying for the said seats and therefore the petitioner cannot be denied consideration.
4. Prima facie, we feel that the petitioner may have a case and therefore direct the respondents to consider the case of the petitioner for admission under the scheme against the self financing category. The online portal be made available to the petitioner for applying, and a copy of the application can also be filed in the physical form with the official respondents, whereafter the case of the petitioner be considered.
5. This Writ Petition is, accordingly, disposed of. No costs.
Consequently, connected miscellaneous applications, if any, shall stand closed.
