Matlub, learned Amicus Curiae for the Appellant. 2. Mr. S.S. Chauhan, learned Deputy Advocate General assisted by Mr. Vikash Uniyal, learned Brief Holder for the State of Uttarakhand. 3. As per order sheet dated 17.02.2026, this Court had directed that the current status of the Appellant – Shekhar Chandra be updated, as it had been pointed out that he had completed his sentence and was released from District Jail, Almora on 23.07.2025. As per the jail report, the cumulative period of sentence undergone was seven years on the date of issuance of the report. 4. The report has been furnished and is detailed as under: “The report pertains to Criminal Jail Appeal No. 32 of 2021 concerning convict Shekhar Chand S/o Ram Datt Sharma, convicted in Case Crime No. 09 of 2019 under Sections 304B and 498A IPC and Section 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act. He was sentenced on 12.04.2021 and remained lodged in District Jail, Almora from 30.09.2019 to 23.07.2025.” 5. The actual period of imprisonment undergone is 5 years, 9 months and 24 days. Remission granted is 1 year, 2 months and 6 days. Thus, the total sentence undergone (including remission) is seven years. The fine of Rs. 5,000/- has also been deposited. 2026:UHC:1080 6. After completion of the sentence, the convict was released on 23.07.2025 and is no longer lodged in District Jail, Almora. 7. In view of the above, nothing survives for adjudication. Accordingly, the present Criminal Jail Appeal stands disposed of. 8. The Lower Court Record be sent back to the concerned Court forthwith. 9. The file be consigned to the Record Room.
