Briefly stated, the marriage between Petitioner No. 1 and Respondent No. 2 was solemnized on 21.01.2024 in accordance with Hindu rites and ceremonies, and no child was born out of the said wedlock. Owing to temperamental differences and incompatibility, the parties started residing separately with effect from 28.02.2024. Thereafter, Respondent No. 2 lodged a complaint before the CAW Cell, Delhi, pursuant to which the present FIR came to be registered against the petitioners. During the pendency of the proceedings, with the intervention of family members and relatives, the parties amicably resolved all their disputes and executed a Settlement Agreement dated 28.07.2025, whereby Respondent No. 2 agreed to settle all her claims, including those relating to jewellery, stridhan, household articles, past, present and future maintenance, permanent alimony and all other claims arising out of the matrimonial relationship, for a total sum of Rs. 48,00,000/- (Rupees Forty-Eight Lakhs only). Pursuant thereto, the marriage between the parties stood dissolved by a decree of divorce by mutual consent dated 09.03.2026, passed by the learned Judge, Family Court, Rohini, Delhi. 5. Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that, in terms of the Settlement Agreement, the entire settled amount has now been paid to Respondent No. 2. He submits that the final instalment of Rs. 16,00,000/- (Rupees Sixteen Lakhs only) has been handed over to Respondent No. 2 today in Court by way of Demand Draft No. 126857. With the said payment, all the terms and conditions of the settlement stand fully complied with and nothing further remains payable by either party. 6. On a query put by this Court, Respondent No. 2, who has been duly identified by the IO, categorically states that she has entered into the settlement of her own free will, without any force, coercion or undue This is a digitally signed order. She further confirms that she has received the entire settled amount, including the final payment of Rs. 16,00,000/- handed over today in Court, and that she has no surviving claim whatsoever against the petitioners. She states that she has no objection if the present FIR and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed. 7. In view of the fact that the parties have amicably resolved all their disputes, the marriage already stands dissolved by a decree of divorce by mutual consent, the entire settlement amount has been paid, and Respondent No. 2 has no objection to the quashing of the FIR, no useful purpose would be served by continuing the criminal proceedings. Rather, continuation thereof would only perpetuate unnecessary litigation between the parties. There is no legal impediment to quashing the FIR in the facts and circumstances of the present case. 8. Accordingly, FIR No. 508/2024, registered at Police Station Alipur, Delhi, under Sections 498A/406/34 of the IPC, along with all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, is hereby quashed. 9. The present petition, along with pending application(s), if any, stands disposed of. 10. The order be uploaded on the website forthwith.
