2026:JHHC:15500 IN THE HIGH COURT OF JHARKHAND AT RANCHI B.A. No. 4460 of 2026
Ankur Singh @ Ankur Kumar --- --- Petitioner Versus The State of Jharkhand --- --- Opposite Party
---
CORAM: HON’BLE MR. JUSTICE RONGON MUKHOPADHYAY ---
For the Petitioner : Mr. Randhir Kumar, Adv.
For the O.P. : A.P.P.
--- 02/26.05.2026 Heard Mr. Randhir Kumar, learned counsel for the petitioner and learned A.P.P. The petitioner is an accused in connection with Telaiya P.S. Case No. 83 of 2026. It has been alleged that the petitioner and other miscreants had come to the shop of the informant and demanded extortion money of Rs.20,000/-. On refusal, the petitioner had assaulted on the head of the informant with the butt of the pistol while Vishnu Shankar Singh had stabbed him on his neck. Submission has been advanced by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the injury on the head of the informant was caused accidently and the petitioner had no role to play. Learned counsel further submits that as per the injury report, a lacerated wound was found on the scalp of the informant which further belies the assertion that he was stabbed by Vishnu Shankar Singh. Learned counsel adds that the petitioner is in custody since 22.03.2026 and though several antecedents have been shown in the impugned order, but in several of the cases the petitioner has been acquitted. Learned A.P.P. has opposed the prayer for bail of the petitioner. Regard being had to the aforesaid facts the petitioner is
directed to be released on bail on furnishing bail bond of Rs.10,000/- (Ten thousand) with two sureties of the like amount each to the satisfaction of learned Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Koderma in connection with Telaiya P.S. Case No. 83 of 2026.
