Officer (IO).
5.
Brief facts of the case are that the present FIR came to be registered on the complaint of Respondent No. 2 alleging commission of offences under Sections 323, 354, 354B, 341, 452, 427 and 34 of the IPC arising out of an altercation between the petitioners and Respondent No. 2, who are neighbours. Pursuant to registration of the FIR, investigation was carried out by the police and a charge-sheet came to be filed before the learned Trial Court, where the proceedings are presently pending. During the pendency of the proceedings, the parties amicably resolved their disputes and entered into a Memorandum of Understanding dated 13.01.2026.
6. On a query made by this Court, Respondent No. 2, who has been identified by the IO, categorically states that she has entered into the compromise vide Memorandum of Understanding dated 13.01.2026 out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat. She further states that she has no objection if the present FIR and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.
7. In view of the above, this Court is of the opinion that, since the parties have amicably resolved all their disputes and differences of their own free will and without any coercion, no useful purpose would be served by continuing the present proceedings. Rather, continuation of the proceedings would only result in further acrimony between the parties. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question.
8. Accordingly, FIR No. 714/2017 dated 20.10.2017, registered at Police Station Ranhola, New Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 323, 354, 354B, 341, 452, 427 and 34 of the IPC, 1860, along with all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, is hereby quashed.
