3. By way of the present writ petition, the petitioner seeks following reliefs:
“a) Issue a Writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order, or direction, directing the Respondents to immediately process the Petitioner's application and renew/re-issue his passport for the full statutory validity period of 10 years, without insisting upon an NOC from the criminal court; b) Quash/set aside the impugned letter dated 18.05.2026 issued by Respondent No. 2, to the extent it demands an extra-statutory NOC from the competent criminal court;”
4. The learned counsel appearing for the respondents on advance notice has drawn attention of this Court to the order dated 18.05.2026. The relevant This is a digitally signed order. portion of the said order reads as under:
“You are advised to visit this office i.e. Regional .Passport Office, Hudco Trikoot-111, Bhikaji Cama Place, R.K. Puram, New Delhi-11 0066 on any VI£Crking day between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm within 90 days of issue of this letter to discuss your case with PRO in person along with orders from the court concerned permitting you to depart from India as per provisions of GSR 570(E) dated 25.08.1983 or NOC or final judgement (in case of disposal of case). Failure to do so within the stipulated time may lead to closure of your application.”
5. It is not in dispute that the petitioner has not complied with the aforesaid order/advise.
6. In these circumstances, the petitioner may visit the Regional Passport Office and upon producing the record, which he has been advised to produce before the concerned Officer, the concerned Officer will decide his application within a period of two weeks.
7. With these directions, the writ petition stands disposed of.
8. However, liberty is granted to the petitioner to approach this Court in case his grievance is still not attended to by the respondents.
