CRR 1696 of 2026 Prasanta Kumar Dhol -vs- Nivedita Goswami Dhol Mr. Sujoy Chakraborty …for the petitioner This is an application seeking expeditious hearing of CR Case No. 438 of 2024 pending before the Learned Judicial Magistrate, 2nd Court, Serampore, Hooghly. It appears that the aforesaid complaint case was instituted by the petitioner under Sections 356(2), 336(2), 227, 228, 229, 233, 234, 236, 239, 240 and 246 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that since the filing of the case, there has been no effective progress in the proceeding. It is further submitted that the accused person entered appearance on September 18, 2025, and thereafter the matter has been adjourned on several occasions without any effective order being passed. In view of the aforesaid, this application is disposed of with a direction upon the Learned Judicial Magistrate In-Charge, 2nd Court, Serampore, Hooghly, or the Learned Magistrate having charge of the said court, to dispose of the case as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six months from the date of communication of this order, without granting any unnecessary adjournments to the parties. 2 Needless to mention, this Court has not entered into the merits of the complaint case. The Learned Magistrate shall proceed with the matter strictly in accordance with law, without being influenced by any observations made herein. Accordingly, CRR 1696 of 2026 stands disposed of.
