CRR 1792 of 2026 Hasina Bibi -vs- The State of West Bengal Mr. Navanil De Mr. Subhrajit Dey Mr. Shoumilya Mazumder …for the petitioner Mr. Debasish Roy Mr. Suman De Mr. Abhinaba Mukherjee …for the State This is an application seeking expeditious disposal of Sessions Serial Case No. 390 of 2017, corresponding to Sessions Trial No. 1(4)/2018, pending before the Learned Additional District & Sessions Judge, 1st Fast Track Court, Berhampore, Murshidabad, in connection with Rejinagar Police Station Case No. 32 of 2014 dated January 31, 2014 under Sections 302/34 of the Indian Penal Code. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that charges in the present case were framed against the accused persons on April 17, 2018. Thereafter, out of 19 listed witnesses, only 2 witnesses have been examined to date. It is contended that there has been no effective progress in the trial. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State submits that the trial has not progressed on several occasions due to the non- appearance of witnesses. The Learned Additional District & Sessions Judge shall take appropriate measures to ensure the presence of witnesses and provide necessary protection to them, if required. 2 An endeavour shall be made by the Learned Additional District & Sessions Judge to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of two years from the date of communication of this order, by fixing the matter for day-to-day trial. Accordingly, CRR 1792 of 2026 stands disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
