JUSTICE PRANJAL DAS ORDER Date : 14-08-2026 (S.K Medhi, J) The applicant, as petitioner, has filed the connected writ petition challenging an opinion dated 28/11/2025 rendered by the Foreigners Tribunal, Bajali, by which he has been declared a foreigner post-1971. This Court, vide order dated 20/07/2026, while issuing notice and calling for records, had also passed an interim order directing the petitioner to appear before the Superintendent of Police (Border), Bajali for taking further steps for his bail. Shri. K.M Hassan, the learned counsel for the applicant, has, however, submitted that when the petitioner appeared on 27/07/2026 in terms of the said order, it was learnt that the concerned records were transferred to the Superintendent of Police (Border), Baksa. The learned counsel accordingly submits that necessary modification be made in the order dated 20/07/2026. In the connected I.A (C) No. 2597/2026 filed in the same writ petition for impleadment, this Court has passed an order today for impleadment of the District Commissioner, Baksa, and the Superintendent of Police (Border), Baksa, as respondent Nos. 8 and 9. Also heard Ms. A. Verma, the learned Standing Counsel, Home Department & NRC; Ms. M.M Kataky, learned CGC for the respondent No. 1, Shri. P. Sarma, learned Government Advocate for the respondent No. 6 and Shri. N. Kalita, learned Standing counsel, ECI for the respondent No. 2 have not raised any serious objection to the aforesaid prayer. In view of the aforesaid facts and circumstances, the instant I.A(C) stands allowed by modifying the order dated 20/07/2026 passed in the connected writ Page No.# 4/4 petition to the extent that the time for appearance of the petitioner stands extended to 25.08.2026 before the Superintendent of Police (Border), Baksa. The other conditions put in the order dated 20/07/2026 shall, however, remain intact. The I.A(C) stands disposed of. JUDGE JUDGE Comparing Assistant
