JUSTICE SANJEEV KUMAR SHARMA ORDER 31.07.2026 Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned Addl. Public Prosecutor for the State of Assam. 2. This is an application under Section 483 of the BNSS, 2023 praying for Page No.# 2/3 enlarging the petitioner, namely, Guniram Ronghang, on bail, arrested on 19.07.2026 in connection with Dibrugarh Police Station Case No. 237/2026 under Section 303(2) of BNS, 2023 read with Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. 3. The allegation as reflected in the FIR is that the petitioner, on 11.07.2026 grabbed a street dog by the neck and forcibly placed it inside a four-wheeler vehicle and fled from the spot. 4. The petitioner was arrested and forwarded to the court on 19.07.2026, and since then, he has spent about 12 days in custody. It also appears that he has already been interrogated, whereafter he was remanded to judicial custody. 5. The learned Addl. Public Prosecutor submits that the dog is yet to be recovered, and therefore, perusal of the CD is necessary. However, having regard to the nature of the allegation and the fact that the petitioner apparently is not required for further interrogation, the prayer for bail is allowed. 6. Accordingly, the petitioner named above shall be released on bail in connection with connection with Dibrugarh Police Station Case No. 237/2026 under Section 303(2) of BNS, 2023, on furnishing a bail bond of Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand only) with two sureties of the like amount to the Page No.# 3/3 satisfaction of the learned Eleka Magistrate/Jurisdictional Court. 7. It is further directed that the petitioner shall cooperate with the investigation as and when required shall also participate in the trial, once it commences. 8.
