Standing Counsel for respondent No.2. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jyotsna Rewal Dua, Judge This writ petition has been filed for grant of following substantive reliefs:- “a. That writ of mandamus may kindly be issued and respondent No.1 may be directed to grant of NOC so that the petitioner can apply for duplicate passport. b. That the respondents may be directed to issue duplicate passport forthwith.” 2. The grievance of the petitioner was noticed as under in the order passed in this petition on 15.05.2026:- “Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that even though the closure report has been filed 1Whether reporters of print and electronic media may be allowed to see the order? Yes. 2 by respondent- Police Department in F.I.R. No.283/2019, however, for want of no objection from the police, respondent No.2 is not issuing the passport to the petitioner. Let learned Deputy Advocate General to have instructions in the matter by the next date. In case there is no legal hurdle in issuing the no objection certificate to the petitioner in view of closure report having been filed by the Police Department, requisite no objection certificate be issued in favour of petitioner and it be placed on record by the next date. List on 04.06.2026.” 3. Pursuant to above, learned Assistant Advocate General has placed on record office instructions dated 02.06.2026 from Superintendent of Police, Mandi, District Mandi, H.P. conveying that in compliance to order dated 15.05.2026 passed in this writ petition, No Objection Certificate has been issued to the petitioner on 23.05.2026. The said No Objection Certificate issued on 23.05.2026 has also been placed on record. In terms of office instructions, the aforesaid No Objection Certificate has been sent to office of Regional Passport Office, Shimla, through a special messenger and said No Objection Certificate has been duly received at the said office on 25.05.2026. Learned counsel appearing for respondent No.2 assures that needful shall now be carried out by the respondent No.2 for issuance/renewal of the passport of 3 the petitioner in accordance with law within three weeks from today. 4. In view of above, the writ petition to stand disposed of. Respondent No.2 to do the needful as assured within three weeks from today.
