No.968 of 2026 Prayer: Contempt Petition filed under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 to punish the respondent under the Contempt of Court Act, 1971 for their deliberate disobedience in carrying out the directions of this Court order passed on 22.07.2025 in W.P. No.22614 of 2025. For Petitioners : Mr.D.Saikumaran - - - - - ORDER This Contempt Petition has been filed alleging wilful disobedience of the order passed by this Court in W.P. No.22614 of 2025, dated 22.07.2025. 2. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is engaged in dealing with Hanschhap Tobacco products and that despite the order passed by this Court on 22.07.2025 in W.P. No.22614 of 2025 directing the respondents not to take coercive steps, the respondents are still attempting to seize the petitioner’s products and a preliminary notice has been issued by the respondents in the above regard. 3. Upon considering the submissions made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, it is to be noted that except making a bald allegation, the petitioner has not produced any material before this Court to establish that the respondents have taken any coercive steps, such as seizure of 2/4 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis Cont. P. No.968 of 2026 the petitioner’s products, in violation of the order passed by this Court. Mere issuance of notice by the respondents, in accordance with law, cannot be construed as wilful disobedience of the order of this Court. 4. In the absence of any material to substantiate the allegation of violation of the order dated 22.07.2025 in W.P. No.22614 of 2025, this Court is of the considered view that no case of contempt is made out.
