Nath, the learned State counsel for the State respondent and Shri S. Chakraborty, the learned counsel for the respondent No. 13. 2. The present petition was instituted by the petitioner on behalf of one Pranab Roy Chowdhury, a senior citizen who was projected to be under illegal confinement at Kinjel Old Age Home, Vasai, Thane in the State of Maharashtra. The nature of the writ prayed for is Habeas Corpus. The petitioner has stated that he is a neighbour of the original house of the said Shri Pranab Roy Page No.# 4/4 Chowdhury. This Court had accordingly issued notice on 22.06.2026. 3. It however transpires that the person concerned, Shri Pranab Roy Chowdhury had passed away. In this connection, a report dated 20.07.2026 had been issued by the Police Inspector (Crime), Dahisar Police Station, to the Registry stating that Shri Pranab Roy Chowdhury had passed away on 06.07.2026, which is after institution of the present writ petition. 4. Shri Das, the learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the basis of instituting this petition was a video transmitted by the deceased to the petitioner from where it could be understood that the deceased was in distress. He accordingly submits that there appears to be some foul play as the deceased was an unmarried person. 5. Be that as it may, considering the nature of the writ petition filed, this Court is of the opinion that there will be no scope of any further adjudication, as the person concerned has passed away. 6. The writ petition accordingly stands closed. 7. The petitioner or any other appropriate person would be at liberty to raise any issue towards the death of Shri Pranab Roy Chowdhury, including any claim for compensation or damage in the appropriate court, in accordance with law.
