This writ petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking the following relief:-
“….to issue a Writ, Order or direction more particularly one in the nature of Writ of Habeas Corpus directing the Respondents/Police to produce the detenu viz Malsingh Chauhan, S/o Sohan Ranjith Singh, Aged about 42 yrs, H.No.2-345A, Kuruva Peta, Nandyal city, Nandyal, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh, PIN Coad. 518501, Aadhar No 9508 1557 6440, before this Hon'ble Court and order for his release forthwith, as being illegal, arbitrary, violation of Principles of Natural Justice, violation of Articles 14, 19(1)(g), and 21 of the Constitution of India and, and consequently direct the 3rd and 4th Respondents to produce a copy of the CCTV footage belonging to the Police Station i.e., Anantapur Rural Police Station, Anantapur District, Station before this Hon'ble Court., forthwith and pass such other order or orders….”
2. On 27.08.2026, a Co-ordinate Bench passed the following order :
“Heard learned counsel for the petitioner.
Also heard Mr.J.Krishna Praneeth, learned counsel representing the Office of learned Advocate General.
Seeking to produce one Mr.Malsingh Chauhan, alleged to have been illegally detained by respondents 3 & 4, present writ petition is filed.
At the time of considering the matter, Mr. J.Krishna Praneeth, on oral instructions submits that the petitioner was arrested on 27.08.2026 in Ananthampur Town by the Ananthapur Rural Police in connection with Crime No.192 of 2026 (arrayed as accused No.5). He also submits that the alleged detenue has already been produced before the Special Judicial Magistrate of First Class (Prohibition & Excise), Ananthapur.
Let an appropriate counter-affidavit be filed by the date of next adjournment.

3. Sri J. Krishna Praneeth, learned Assistant Government Pleader attached to the office of the learned Advocate General, appearing for respondent No.4 – Station House Officer, Anantapur Rural Police Station, Anantapur, filed a counter affidavit, stating, inter alia, that on 27.08.2026, at about 5:50 p.m., the detenu was produced before the learned Special Judicial 1st Class Magistrate (Prohibition & Excise) Court, Ananthapuramu, and, upon
consideration of the material, he was remanded to judicial custody on the same day.
4. This writ petition was filed on 27.08.2026, on which date the detenu was remanded to judicial custody. However, there is no challenge to the order of remand. Since, as on today, the custody of the petitioner pursuant to the said
order of remand is pursuant to a judicial order and there is no challenge thereto, the detention of the detenu cannot be said to be illegal.
5. Accordingly, the writ petition has become infructuous and is closed..
No order as to costs.
As a sequel thereto, miscellaneous petitions, if any pending, shall also stand closed.
