UNNI KRISHNAN NAIR ORDER Date : 22-07-2026 Heard Mr. S.Z.B. Aklas, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. I. Borthakur, learned standing counsel, PHE Department, Assam. The petitioner in the present writ petition has prayed for a direction upon the respondent authorities for authorizing to him his arrear salaries for the services rendered by him as Muster Roll Labour w.e.f. 01-10-1989 to 30-04-2022 amounting to Rs. 2,06,688/- (Rupees Two Lakhs Six Thousand Six Hundred Eighty Eight). Mr. Borthakur, learned standing counsel, PHE has placed on record a communication dated 23-02-2024 issued by the Under Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, PHE Department to the AG(A&E), Assam conveying the sanction of the Governor of Assam for drawl of arrear salaries in respect of the petitioner, viz. Basanta Kumar Pathak, herein, for a total amount of Rs. 2,06,688/-. It is submitted that the said amount now being sanctioned by the Government, would be disbursed by the AG(A&E), Assam within a short period of time. Page No.# 3/3 In view of the above fact that the arrear salaries claim by the petitioner, herein, has already been sanctioned by the Government in the PHE Department and such sanction being conveyed to the AG(A&E), Assam, the said amount on being further processed would be required to be disbursed to the petitioner in his bank account. Accordingly, the AG(A&E), Assam is directed to accord necessary approval from its end to the sanction already granted for release of the arrear salary of the petitioner amounting to Rs. 2,06,688/- within a period of 01 (one) month from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. Thereafter, the said amount, within a further period of 01 (one) month shall be credited to the account of the petitioner in the manner mandated. With the above observations and directions, the present writ petition stands disposed of. A copy of the communication dated 23-02-2024 furnished by Mr. I.
