Masudur Rahaman Paik Ms. Ahamina Nasrin …..for the respondent no. 4 1) Affidavit of service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record. 2) Petitioner lodged a complaint against the respondent no. 4 being the mother-in-law of the petitioner alleging torture and ill-treatment. It is submitted that previously one Habeas Corpus application being WPA (H) 100 of 2025 was heard by the Hon’ble Division Bench as whereabouts of the petitioner was not available at the material point of time. Petitioner prays for direction upon the concerned 2 police authorities to take necessary steps based on the complaint lodged by her against respondent no.4. 3) One communication dated 13th March, 2026 of Officer-in-Charge of South Port Police Station, Kolkata along with supporting documents are placed before this Court and same are taken on record. 4) It is disclosed in said communication dated 13th March, 2026 that a criminal prosecution being South Port Police Station Case No. 20 dated 15th February, 2026 was registered under certain provisions of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and investigation is going on. 5) Respondent no. 4 is represented by learned advocate who submits that petitioner is not her daughter-in-law and she denies marriage of the petitioner with her son. 6) It needs to be recorded herein that Habeas Corpus application being WPA (H) 100 of 2025 was disposed of by the Hon’ble Division Bench vide order dated 23rd December 2025 recording that the victim was residing with the private respondent voluntarily and the victim was an adult. 7) Since it is disclosed in the communication dated 13th March, 2026 of the police authority that a criminal prosecution being South Port Police Station Case No.20 dated 15th February, 2026 has been initiated and investigation is going on, concerned police authority is directed to take said proceeding into logical conclusion. 8) Writ petition stands disposed of. 9) There shall be no order as to costs. 3 10) Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties on usual undertaking.
