ORAL ORDER
The petitioners have approached this Court seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents authorities, particularly respondent Nos.2 and 4 to consider the representation submitted by the petitioners seeking re- grant of inam lands attached to the Thalavari Village Office under the provisions of the Karnataka Village Offices Abolition Act, 1961 (‘KVOA Act’ for short) and to pass appropriate orders in accordance with law.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that despite the petitioners having submitted representation seeking re-grant of the land in accordance with the provisions of the KVOA Act, the competent authorities have not taken any decision on the same. It is submitted that the petitioners have been constrained to approach this Court seeking a direction to the respondents to consider the representation and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law.

3. Per contra, learned AGA for the respondents submits that the representation so submitted shall be considered in accordance with law within a reasonable time.

The material on record indicates that the grievance of the petitioners is essentially with regard to the non-consideration of their representation seeking re- grant of land under the provisions of the KVOA Act. This Court is of the view that when the statutory authority is vested with a power to consider such representation, the same is required to be examined by the competent authority in accordance with law.
5. In the present case, the petitioners have submitted an application seeking re-grant under the provisions of the KVOA Act and is pending consideration before the competent authority, in the circumstances, the ends of justice would be met if directions are issued to the competent authority to consider the representation and

pass appropriate orders. Accordingly, this Court pass the following:
ORDER i. The writ petition is disposed of. ii. Mandamus is issued directing respondent Nos.2 and 4 to consider the representation seeking re-grant of lands and pass appropriate orders, in accordance with law, within a reasonable period preferably two (2) months from the date of receipt of the a copy of this order.
