SL. No. Date Office Notes, reports, orders or proceedings or directions and Registrar’s order with Signatures COURT’S OR JUDGE’S ORDERS UKHC010138712026 2026:UHC:7454 UKHC010138712026 C528/1731/2026 Virendra Singh --Applicant Versus State of Uttarakhand --Respondent Hon’ble Rakesh Thapliyal, J. Mr. Gaurav Nagpal, learned counsel for the applicant. 2. Ms. Sweta Badola Dobhal, learned Brief Holder, for the State of Uttarakhand. 3. Instant petition is moved by the present applicant – Virendra Singh, who is facing trial for the offences punishable under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, pending in the court of Special Judge, NDPS Act Dehradun, District Dehradun. 4. It is submitted by learned counsel for the applicant that the trial court proceedings are pending since 2019 and up till date not a single prosecution witness has been examined. 5. It is very strange that the trial is pending since 2019 but not a single prosecution witness has been examined. This is harassment of a person who is facing trial. The complete order-sheet is enclosed from which it reveals that there is no progress in the trial. This is really very shocking and surprising that the Trial Court is not making any attempt to expedite the trial. 6. In such view of the matter, the instant petition is finally disposed of with the direction to the Trial Court concerned to expedite the trial as early as possible preferably within six months from the date of the presentation of the certified copy of this order.
