It is the contention of the learned counsel for the petitioners that Sri.Thimmegowda, father-in-law of petitioner No.1 and grandfather of petitioner Nos.2 to 4 purchased the petition schedule properties measuring 6 guntas in Sy.No.28/3 (New No.28/3b), 13 guntas in Sy.No.41/1 and 11 guntas in Sy.No.41/8, all situated at Udharehalli village, Kasaba Hobli, Kanakapura Taluk, Ramanagara District (now known as

31.05.1965. The name of Sri.Thimmegowda was entered in the revenue records, after his death name of his wife Smt.Lingamma was entered in the revenue records. However, after computerization, the name of Smt.Lingamma has not been continued in the revenue records. Therefore, petitioners have given representation to the Tahsildar at Annexure-D dated 08.09.2025 seeking to enter the names of the petitioners who have succeeded to the estate of late Sri.Thimmegowda. However, the Tahsildar has not considered the representation and has not passed any orders.

After hearing the learned counsel for the petitioners, the learned Additional Government Advocate and on perusing the petition papers, this Court finds from the material on record that the name of the petitioner was earlier entered in the land revenue records. However, if the Tahsildar is of the opinion that the petitioner has not been granted lands, nevertheless, it is the duty of the Tahsildar to secure the original grant records, Saguvali Chit issue register and other contemporaneous records to

HC-KAR NC: 2026:KHC:8102 WP No. 153 of 2026 satisfy himself regarding the grant made in favour of the petitioner. Moreover, there is no reason why the name of the petitioner which was earlier entered in the land revenue records has been continued after computerization, the Tahsildar is duty bound to look into all these aspects and pass necessary orders.
4. Consequently, this writ petition stands
disposed of with a specific direction to respondent No.2 - Tahsildar, Kanakapura Taluk to consider the representation given by the petitioners and in the light of the observations made hereinabove, verify the original records in the presence of the petitioners and pass necessary orders to enter the name of Smt. Lingamma in the computerized RTC and land revenue records as expeditiously as possible and at any rate within a period of two months from the date of receipt of copy of this order. Thereafter, the Tahsildar shall verify if the petitioners are the legal heirs of Smt.Lingamma, issue notice, hear all concerned parties. Thereafter, if it is found out that the petitioners are the legal heirs of Smt.Lingamma, the Tahsildar shall proceed to
