The petitioner, in this writ petition, has prayed to quash letter No. E- 41016/Keausub/HEC/Prasha/Kalyan/2021-4059 dated 16.9.2021, issued by the Deputy Commandant, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Unit Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) Ranchi, whereby order was given to give weekly off to the petitioner once in a fortnight. It has further been prayed to direct the respondents to give the petitioner weekly off once a week i.e. one day off after completion of six continuous working days. 3 During course of argument, in support of the points raised by the petitioner, the petitioner has produced a letter No. 3848 dated 6.10.2025 issued by CISF. The said letter, after serving a copy to the respondents, is kept on record. The counsel for the respondent was asked to verify the genuinety of the said letter. The genuinety of the said letter was not doubted. 4. The petitioner, who is a lady, was appointed as Sub-Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on 27.7.2021. She was initially posted at Delhi and thereafter transferred to different places. Ultimately she was transferred and at the time of filing of this petition, she was posted at Ranchi in the premises of Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC). 1. 5. It is the case of the petitioner that the work is being taken from the petitioner continuously, without any leave. The petitioner has two small children and has to look after her husband, who is also suffering from depression and is under the treatment of Central Institute of Psychiatry, Kanke, Ranchi, therefore, she needs one day as weekly rest. Her application was considered by the respondents and vide Annexure-3 i.e. letter dated 16.9.2021 (impugned letter), the authorities decided to give one weekly off, after fifteen days, so that she can sort out her problems. Thus by virtue of the impugned order, one weekly off was given in a fortnight, to the petitioner. The petitioner has challenged the same and prayed for granting of one weekly off after six days of continuous work. 6. The fact that the work was taken from the petitioner continuously without any break, is admitted. Considering the aforesaid situation of the petitioner, the respondents decided to give one weekly off to the petitioner in a fortnight. 7. The Letter dated 6.10.2025, which the petitioner has produced before this Court during the hearing, is authored by the Deputy Inspector General (Operations), addressing to all Sector IsG and Director (NISA). As per the aforesaid letter, considering the plight of the CISF personnel and their regular and continuous work, the work fatigue and adverse impact of the alertness of the CISF personnel, it was decided that weekly off to the personnel posted in their unit, may be granted on regular interval in transparent way. The usage of the word “weekly off”. This clearly suggests that there should be weekly off in a week. 8. No person can be forced to work continuously without any break. A break is absolutely important. This enhances the work efficiency of the personnel also. This has also been recognized by the CISF in the letter dated 6th October, 2025. They acknowledged that the performance of the personnel reduces due to long stretched duties. It not only causes fatigue amongst the security personnel but also has adverse impact on their alertness on duty, thus it affects their operational efficiency. To improve the operational efficiency, CISF also acknowledges that it is necessary to give a weekly off. 9. Thus considering the letter dated 6th October, 2025 and the claim made by the petitioner, this Court is of the view that the petitioner is entitled for one weekly off. Consequently, henceforth, the respondent are directed to give one weekly off to the petitioner after six days of continuous work. 10.
